Registering an ECT
New for 2026, the Register Early Career Teachers (RECT) replaces the previous Manage Training for Early Career Teachers service. We have included a collection of videos at the bottom of this page to help you navigate this new system. You will log in via your DfE Sign-in.
Registering ECTs and Mentors
ECTs need to be registered for statutory induction as soon as they have been appointed. The Induction Tutor has to complete two steps to register an ECT for the ECTE. From the 15th June 2026 onwards your school will receive an invitation from the DfE to register.
STEP 1 - Register with the DfE for training
ECTs and Mentors must be registered with the DfE’s online Register Early Career Teachers Service (known as the DfE Portal).

step 2 - Register with an Appropriate Body
Generate is the Appropriate Body for Halton, Warrington and Wigan schools. You must register via ECT Manager.
