School-Based Initial Teacher Training
We provide three PGCE routes: Primary 5-11 years, Primary 3-7 years and Primary 5-11 with SEND and training takes place locally in schools based within or near to the Warrington area. Our full-time, non-salaried programme runs from early September to July and is a highly successful partnership between local schools and Liverpool Hope University. Read more on our website here.

Teacher Apprenticeships
As an alternative route into teaching we are pleased to work with two established providers who offer teacher apprenticeships. Teacher apprenticeships are work-based training programmes leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) on successful completion.
Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeships (PGTA)
This is for graduates who aspire to be teachers and may be currently working as teaching assistants or support staff in schools. Best Practice Network (BPN) offer a 12-month programme with tuition funded by the Apprenticeship Levy (subject to employer eligibility). On this route you can stay working in your school whilst training and on successful completion postgraduates will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Teacher Degree Apprenticeships (TDA)
This route is for aspiring teachers who want to gain a degree and QTS whilst working in a school. Liverpool Hope University (LHU) offer the 40-month course which starts in September 2025 and includes a blend of academic and practical training. Upon successful completion, graduates will be awarded a BA (Hons) Primary Education (3-11) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Level 6 Apprenticeship Qualification.

Local ITT Peer Network 2024/25
Generate Teaching Hub facilitates a peer network for local providers of initial teacher training in schools. This is a participant-led network to which all phases of training are welcome. We engage in informal advice and support in a friendly network and welcome any colleagues in the area who are not already involved to email our ITT Manager, Linda Humphries at lhumphries@wpat.uk for more information.

Use this service to make a claim for the time spent becoming an initial teacher training (ITT) mentor.
You can use this service if you are a school or education organisation that:

has at least one team member who has started or is due to start their ITT mentor training
