04 Early Career Teachers
September Year 1 ECTs
So...you have almost made it to the end of your first year as a teacher! Well done!!! Your Induction Tutor will now be completing your first Formal Assessment. This is an opportunity for them to assess you against each of the Teachers’ Standards and check whether you are on track to complete your induction at the end of the two year statutory induction period. There is a section at the end of the assessment form for you to reflect and comment on your progress. It’s important that you complete this in detail, highlighting your strengths and areas for future development, and confirming that you have received your entitlements as an ECT. There are some good examples in the Resources Section of ECT Manager to support you in completing your Formal Assessment form.
We are busy planning Year 2 of your programme and we are looking forward to supporting you further as your training becomes phase or subject specific. Thank you to all the ECTs who have already informed us of the subject or phase that they are teaching next year. If you have not yet submitted your information, please let us know by completing this form. This will ensure that you are placed in the correct cohort for your Year 2 training.
Year 2 of the ECF Programme starts with a Welcome Conference. Please find details of the conference for your area HERE.
If you’ve got any questions about Year 2 of the programme, then do get in touch hub@wpat.uk
January and April Year 1 ECTS

Enjoy your summer holiday and have a well-deserved rest!
September Year 2 ECTs
A huge ‘well done’ to you all! Following two years of hard work, dedication, determination and resilience you have finished all of your Early Career Framework training and, soon, your statutory induction will be complete. Don’t forget that there is a section at the end of the assessment form for you to reflect and comment on your progress. It’s important that you complete this in detail, highlighting your strengths and areas for future development, and confirming that you have received your entitlements as an ECT. There are some good examples in the Resources Section of ECT Manager to support you in completing your Formal Assessment form.
As you move forward and develop further, you can be confident that the skills and knowledge that you have acquired are based on the most recent research and evidence, enabling you to provide the very best for the children and young people in your care.
You have also been fortunate enough to have the support of highly trained mentors who will have been instrumental in helping you to improve your practice. We know that mentors are often the busiest people in schools and their time and commitment is testament to their belief in you and in improving outcomes for all in school.
As a hub, it has been great getting to know you and your schools. It has been a privilege to attend seminars and see your enthusiasm in action (even at the end of long tiring days in school!). Many of you are now making significant contributions to the wider life of your school community and having a positive impact on so many children and young people beyond your classroom. They will always remember that.
We look forward to continuing your professional development journey with you as you become the NPQ programme members, mentors, induction tutors, facilitators and leaders of the future. Good luck and keep in touch!
